When The Night Comes By Drizl
Don't leave anything on your list Jasper. Live the life you want, not the one everyone expects. If you think about it, settling ain't really living. Can Jasper find the life he wants during the light of day or is it best left in the dark ExJ/SLASH/AU/AH
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Angst/Romance - Complete
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6153886/1/When_the_Night_Comes

This story starts out with Jasper waking up in a strange place, with someone he doesn't know...again.  His phone is ringing and whoever it is just won't stop.  He answers it and is surprised to hear Alice Brandon's voice.  She tells him his mom is terminally ill, and doesn't have alot of time.  If  he wants to see her he needs to come home now.  Jasper knew she was sick, but he's avoided everything for so long.  After hanging up from Alice,  Jasper's hit with the memories, memories he's tried to bury deeply or forget all together.  No amount of alcohol, drugs or sex has worked.  He still has it bad for Edward Cullen, and he truly fears what going home might mean.

Five years ago, Jasper, his twin sister Rose, and their mother Susan Hale move to Forks.  The town welcomes them with open arms, Jasper's talent at football has not gone unnoticed here.  They're all hoping that he can help their team finally go to the championship.   He meets and becomes friends with Emmett and Edward.  Emmett is soon very taken with Rose, and there's just something about Edward, something that both excites and scares Jasper.  They go to a party at the beach before school starts, and he notices Edward acting sort of weird, he can't put his finger on it.  One minute they're talking football, then he's shocked at what happens next....

"With your arm, we should crush them," he said bringing out the crooked grin again.

"Yeah? Do you think we'll be able to hook-up on a few long pass routes?"

His face lit up. "Hell yeah, they have one decent cornerback, but I'm faster than him." He laughed and lunged at me, but I was able to slip out of his grasp. We ran down the beach laughing and taunting each other. He finally tripped me up, falling on top of me. His green eyes were almost black as he hovered over me. Strange sensations fluttered in my stomach. Must be the fucking Jack mixing with the beer I had been drinking until Edward fucking Cullen leaned forward and brushed his lips against mine.

My entire body seized up. Was this actually happening?

"Oh fuck," he muttered. "I'm so sorry...I didn't mean...oh fuck...please Jasper...don't...I gotta go.."

He jumped off me, disappearing down the beach before I could even sit up. I ran my finger across my lips and groaned. Edward Cullen had just sort of kissed me and fuck...I kinda liked it...what the fuck did...I jumped up and started sprinting down the beach."

This is just the beginning of the relationship that blooms between the two boys.  Jasper has only been with girls before, so he's very confused.  But he's very attracted to Edward, and when they're alone, he seems to be all that Edward wants.  Things aren't the same when others are around.  This kills Jasper, he truly doesn't know what to believe.  He soon starts dateing Alice, and finds it"s just not the same with her as it is with Edward.  At first he feels guilty and tries to avoid being alone with Edward, but he just can't.

When Jasper returns to Forks five years later, he's surprised to learn that his mother knew about him and Edward.  I love how Susan is written, she's the mom everyone wants, Warm, loving, yet she doesn't take any crap and constantly tries to get Jasper to face his past and either move on or fix it.  She asks Jasper to play guitar for her not realizing he didn't bring his own.  Rose tells him she'll find one he can use and he doesn't question it, until he see's it. Then he knows...

"I closed my eyes, letting a few more tears slip down my face. "It's Edward's guitar," I whispered and then I couldn't talk anymore, because my nerves were wrecked. My breath came in short spasms as I fought desperately to hold it together.

Mama sighed. "Let him go," she whispered.

"Fuck...Mama," I sobbed and then everything exploded out of me. My body shook as the waves of pain rushed through me. I buried my face into my mother's shoulder and cried. I cried because I was so fucking stupid to let him separate me from my family. Blaming him for that was ridiculous, it had been my choice not to come back to Forks for five fucking years. I cried because I was going to lose my mother and there was absolutely nothing I could do about that. I cried because it still hurt, because no matter how much I fucking hated him, I had to admit to myself that I still loved him."

This story is told in flashbacks, and it's very well written and easy to follow, not always easy with this  type of storytelling.   There is alot of angst, but it's so worth it in the end.  All of the characters are very well developed and you feel like their friends or acquaintances and you know really well.  It's such a quandary, you know Jasper and Edward shouldn't be doing what they're doing because they're both dateing other people.  But honestly what they have together is so rare and deep that you see Alice and Bella in the way of that.  When Bella finally finds out it's heart wrenching, not because you feel bad for her, but you see how defeated that leaves Edward.   He truly loses a part of himself when Jasper leaves,  his life definitely does not end up like he planned.   They truly start out as two confused boys who fall in love and really don't know how to handle it.  They're both very innocent and naive in the ways of the heart.   They don't realize the hurt they're setting themselves up for.

"My eyes fluttered shut when Edward ran his tongue over my lips, wetting them. I gave in and let my body relax as I settled down on his chest. After five minutes of heavy kissing and tongue action, I came up for air and flipped the light on. Edward's half-lidded, lust filled eyes stared back at me. I was in serious trouble.

"Please don't say anything Jasper," he pleaded.

I pushed up off him and moved back to my side of the bed. "You've got to give me something," I whispered.

He rolled on his side encouraging me to do the same. I watched as his hand splayed across my chest, coming to rest on my heart. I'm sure he could feel my heart pounding against my rib cage.

He squeezed his eyes shut. "I've never...fuck," he hissed and clenched his jaw. "No one has ever made me feel like you do."

He looked so fucking tense and unsure. I needed to reassure him that we were both in the same boat. I placed my hand over his. "You scare the shit out of me Edward Cullen."

He gave me a small lopsided smile and rolled over on top of me.

"So, can this be our secret," he asked, pinning me beneath him.

"Who the fuck am I going to tell," I asked, raising my eyebrow.

He snorted. "When the night comes, you're mine," he said and lowered his lips to capture mine again. This time it was soft and slow, with a lot of teasing and tasting. God he tasted so good and I couldn't get enough."

Edward makes the choices he does because he feels like he owes it to everyone else to make them happy.  His choices crush him and Jasper, and five years later neither are living, they're mostly just surviving.  Neither seems to be able to find happiness, mostly because they had it and stupidly let it slip away.  Jasper is so broken, there's so much he has given up trying to forget Edward.  His mom makes him see all this, she forces him to look at it from Edwards side, and see the whole picture.  She makes him realize that love is not something you can just go out and replace.   She shows him a picture, of two boys obviously in love, when they thought no one else knew but them.  She shows him it's more important to find love and happiness, and not worry about who it's with.

This fic is complete, and the end is perfect and bittersweet.  I've read this story 3 times now, and honestly I could read it again.  It's just one of those stories where you just want to characters to find their happiness and do whatever they need to do to make it back to each other.  Give it a try, it will leave you wanting more.

Can You Hear Me? by Jasper1863Hale

Can You Hear Me? By Jasper1863Hale http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7476890/1/Can_You_Hear_Me
Jasper is new to Forks and due to an accident when he was younger, he is a mute. Luckily a certain Cullen is there to show him the ropes and help him to communicate. AH, Slash, M for lemons. *2nd place winner 'Most Promising WIP' The Torch Awards*
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Hurt/Comfort/Romance - Jasper/Edward

The story starts out on Jasper's first day at a new school, Forks High.  He's gone to many different schools over that past few years.  At 14 Jasper was attacked by a dog and now is unable to speak.  He knows sign language, but unfortunately his father or Pa as he calls him, isn't very good with it.  He feels very isolated, no friends, no family, other than his dad.  He's always the new kid.  Always alone.

When he goes to the office to check in, he finds out a student has been assigned to help him find his way around. That student is Edward Cullen.  He's fluent in sign language which is a first for Jasper.  His father has tried to learn, but usually Jasper has to write out what he wants to say.  He's thrilled that he can communicate with Edward.  Things heat up really quickly between these two, there's attraction, but much more.  Jasper's excited to finally have someone he considers a friend, someone who he can really talk to.   He's really attracted to Edward, and soon finds out that Edward feels the same.     Jasper's emotions get to him and Edward is there for him, I love how he is so sweet and caring for a boy he hardly knows.....

"He began lightly rocking side to side as he held me and I cried against his shoulder, soaking his shirt worse than the rain had. A gentle rumble began in his throat and it took me a moment to realise he was humming along to the classical music coming from his stereo. He just held me for several minutes until I cried myself dry.

Feeling embarrassed, I raised my hand and wiped at my eyes as I eased my way out of his arms and back into the seat. I had known Edward less than two hours and here I was crying on his shoulder. But what surprised me more was that he didn't object. He had held me until I was done crying. He had comforted me and somehow I knew he was willing to listen, to let me talk everything out, and would be there to help me through.

*I'm sorry, Edward.*

'Don't be. I told you this is good. You've obviously been holding a lot in all this time, you need to let it go.'

*You won't judge me for anything will you? I hardly know you, you hardly know me but, I feel like I can trust you.*

'You can, Jasper. Now, when you feel like you're ready, then let some more out. Talk to me, tell me anything and everything.'"

There really is an edge to this story, some of the other kids can't resist picking on Jasper, he's bullied and taunted daily.  Finally they get him alone one day and beat him really badly.  Edward finds him and the next thing he knows he's waking up in the hospital.   This is a big turning point in Jasper's life, he decides that he's had enough.  His Pa's first reaction is to find somewhere else for them to move to, but Jasper is having none of that.  For the first time in his life he tells his dad how he really feels. How he's tired of constantly moving, how he has friends here.  How he wants the kids that beat him up to know he's not afraid and he's not leaving....

"If you want to go then go. I'm not moving again, we've only been here over a week. I'm done with running from things, I'm not running away this time."

I had never in all my life spoken or signed to my Pa in such a manner before. I could tell from his expression that he wasn't amused by my disobedience and his tiredness didn't help that either. As he spoke, I was already typing my rebuttal.

"Jasper, you're being unreasonable and I don't appreciate your tone. Now get ready, we're leaving."

"You think you know what is best for me, but you don't. Every time someone kicks my head in, you take me away to somewhere else and it just starts all over again. Well, I'm not leaving this time. For the first time since the accident I finally have some friends and they're standing by me through this. They're accepting me for what I am, it's what I need. I don't want a life of constantly running away in fear, I want to stay here where I have friends who support me. If you want to go then just go, I'm staying here and I'll make do somehow, but I'm not leaving."

I really like how this story is playing out, Jasper has so much stacked against him.  He just wants to be treated like a normal boy, have friends, fall in love and be happy.  With Edward in his life those things just might happen.  Edward is so kind and caring, always ready to let Jasper lead.  And always there when he needs support or just a shoulder to cry on.  It's fun to see all the new things Jasper experiences, he hasn't tried to play sports since his injury and he realizes he really likes trying.  Since he always wears a scarf to cover his scars, it makes things a little difficult at times.  But He seems to be willing to try almost anything.  It feels like he's finally ready to start living his life.

This story really is told very beautifully, I can't tell you how many times I got choked up over Jasper and his circumstance.  It's hard enough being a teenager, but  to try and go through High School not being able to communicate would be so tough.  He's been bullied constantly and ended up in the hospital on numerous occasions.  He's never had  a boyfriend, or any friends at all.  It's easy to see why he would want to try to start a life in Forks.   Jasper1863Hale should really be proud of this story, she's doing a great job along with her beta  KellenCougar.  Check it out this wonderful story, you won't be sorry.

Rocket Science by Dragontattoo75
Waking up after a night out, Jasper finds his work and personal life collide in a way that will change his life forever. 'When it's my turn to go, will I have a family sitting around me, holding my hand'  AH/Slash
Twilight - Rated: M - English  WIP
Jasper wakes up groggy and not feeling himself, is he sick? He works as a Registered Nurse, so he's around sick people all day.  He's so out of it he's not even sure what day it is.  Then he remembers, he went out drinking last night.  Some people from his work were going out and he joined them, something he doesn't do very often.  He really doesn't remember much of last night.  He calls his friend Alice, and she tells him he met someone. Did body shots with him, then Alice rushed him out and threw him in a Taxi before he could get into trouble.   He still doesn't remember anything.

He goes to work the next day, and is holding his breath waiting for someone to mention something he did while out partying. Nobody does, something he's very thankful for.  He goes to meet a new patient, a Mr. Carlisle Cullen.  He's got a serious health problem, and will be here a while.  When Jasper checks on him on his next shift, there are a few more family members there, one of them seems familiar but he has no idea from where.  Jasper is very compassionate and helps them through this terribly emotional time, he tries to be there for them all, and makes sure Carlisle is as comfortable as is possible.  Carlisle doesn't make it.

It's a year later, and his friends from work want to go out.  His friend Alice wants to celebrate meeting her boyfriend Seth a year ago and they want Jasper to go.  He makes sure he eats this time, not wanting to repeat last year's experience.  Then he sees Edward Cullen....

This could be somewhat awkward for me, meeting them here when we're partying and we've only met each other as nurse and relatives in a very sensitive situation. If they recognize me from the ward, would they want to talk to me about what happened there?
"Oh, Jasper, there is that guy you danced and did body shots with a year ago!" Alice says excited. "The one in the green shirt!"
"What are you saying Alice? It was him I did body shots with? I don't believe you." The situation gets ten times more awkward for me.
Seth confirms it, "Yeah, I recognize him too, Jasper. I had to help Alice peel you off him and get you home. You were so drunk you couldn't take care of yourself that night. We took a cab to your place and put you to bed before Alice came home with me." He looks lovingly down at Alice, clearly remembering their first night together.
I can admit Edward's good looking when I see him here and I'm not at work being his dying father's nurse. If this were the first time I had seen him, I would certainly have noticed him. I remember thinking when I met him at the hospital I'd seen him somewhere before. I believe Alice is right.
All of us are staring at Edward when Alice suddenly takes my hand and drags me over to him.

They dance, and talk a bit. But just when they finally sit down to spend some time together, they're interrupted repeatedly.  Until finally Alice and Jaspers' other friends drag him home.  He feels like the fates are against them.  And maybe one of his friends.  Things are not as they seem with Jacob.  He may want more from Jasper than he's willing to admit.  Jasper thinks of Edward constantly. Having given him his number he waits for him to call....and waits...and waits. Finally he gets a text from Edward asking him out on a date.

He goes to Edward's place and Edward cooks him dinner.  They talk and end up having a really nice evening.  Jasper finds out Edward has a 9 year old daughter, Lily.   And an ex-husband Sam.  Edward has alot of anger and hurt toward Sam, which makes Jasper feel sympathetic.  Having a child together then having to share her must be tough

Edward is very guarded, he has been hurt so bad by Sam.  He's hesitant to let Jasper in, but he doesn't want to lose this chance with him either.   They hang out at Edwards and watch movies, and get to know each other better. They start to date regularly, Edward goes to Alice's housewarming party. At Alice's party, Edward sees Jacob and lets him know that he's with Jasper now.  This doesn't sit well with Jacob. And even though Jasper was very clear with him that he's not interested, Jacob tries to cause trouble for Jasper.

I love how this story plays out, it starts as Jasper being there in a very trying time, for Edward and his family.  I think Jasper comes into Edward's life at a very important time for him.  Edward is very hesitant, Sam has said things to him that have stolen some of his confidence.  He thinks he has to be guarded in the way he feels for Jasper.  There's a darkness to him that I love.  It's like you can tell he's holding his emotions in check but he really struggles with it.

His love for his daughter is really sweet, you can tell she is his world.  When he's finally ready to let Jasper meet her it is such a sweet chapter.  Lily is such a quirky kid.  Jasper is so taken with her, and she's so blunt with him.   I think she shocks him a bit at first, but she's just straightforward like her Dad.

This story is 10 chapters long and there's only the Epilogue left, so you wont be kept waiting long for the end.  Dragontatoo is very good at updating and has another story going that is just as good.  It's called Consequences of Confessing your Fantasy.  Malice Slashover is her pre-reader and Sue273 is her beta.  They're a great team, check it out you won't be disappointed.
