Twilight - Rated: M - English - Romance  http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7706784/1/This_Old_House
Jasper Whitlock is an accomplished businessman, he has everything he needs  in life and the money to get whatever he wants.  Except two things, he's wanted to buy his Great Grandfathers house for years.  Whenever it came up for auction something happened to prevent him from making the purchase....until now.  When he arrives at the house, it's a mess, every window broken, floor boards missing, barely a roof over his head.  But it also comes with a surprise in the basement....

Emmett and myself were in the kitchen when there was a disturbance coming from the entrance hall.

"Please! Please let me go!" the pleading whimpers broke through our conversation and we both ran out of the room.

Once in the entrance hall, I saw Mike raise his hand to a mound of rags on the floor.

"Mike!" Emmett shouted at him as I walked towards him.

"Please, please let me go." The rags started to shake and whispered an almost silent plea.

"I found the bastard hauled up in the basement. It looks like he made a pretty good home for himself down there." Mike spat out as Emmett pulled him out of the hall.

"What's your name?" I asked. No doubt this was a child who thought it was good to play house in my house. That didn't impress me.

This was my home and I wouldn't have any one here uninvited.

I gasped loudly as the owner of the rags looked up to me. I didn't take anything in except two things.

One, he was not a child.

Two, he had to most vivid green eyes I'd ever seen.
Edward cullen is a young man, only 20.  For the past 5 years he has been on his own.  His mother died, leaving him in the care of his father, a cruel man who abused Edward both physically and mentally.   Jasper and Emmett find Edward in a heap sleeping in the basement, with his little dog Alice.  He's dressed in rags that are too small for him.  Leaving Jasper to wonder how long he's been on his own.  Edward is extremely shy and awkward, he's so uncomefortable he can't even form words to tell Jasper and Emmett what he's doing there.  Rose, Emmett's wife takes him upstairs and helps him get cleaned up and talks to him.

She finds out that he's been on his own, digging in trash for food, barely surviving.  He started staying at the house because it was away from other people and he felt safe there.  Rose and Jasper tell Edward, that he's now welcome to stay at the house.  That they'll be his family, be whatever he needs.  He's so afraid to trust them though, he's never had anyone he could depend on since his mother.  But Rose is pretty persistant, and he agrees to stay at the house.

Since the house is still unliveable, Jasper has some trailers brought to the property.  He, Edward and Alice make themselves comefortable in one of them.  Jasper is soon drawn to Edward.  He tries to fight his attraction, Edward's younger than him, and he's just been through so much trauma.  Jasper doesn't want to put anymore stress on Edward.  So he tries to just be his friend.  They hold hands often, and Jasper decides if this is all there is, he's ok with that.

One night, while spending time with Jasper's family Edward admits that his father told him that homosexuality is something to be ashamed of, something he should be punished for.  Jasper is shocked at how cruel Edward's father seems to have been.  He notices a huge scar on Edward's back and wonders what it's from.   He tells Edward that he'll be there for him in any way he needs him to be, but Edward is just so afraid.   He hasn't had anyone in his life he could trust for a very long time, he wants to trust Jasper but he's very hesitant.

Finally Jasper opens up to Edward and admits he has feelings for him.  But sadly Edward has so many mixed feelings, he's definitely attracted to Jasper, but his father has made being gay into something bad.  Jasper tells him those are his father's views, and he needs to make up his own mind how he feels about things.  Jasper's mom and Rose both tell him to be patient, that Edward's been through so much.  But he can't help the swirling of emotions he feels around Edward.  So finally he makes a confession....

"Jasper, something must have happened for your mood to change so quickly. Is it because of what we talked about? Do you think differently about me? You have to tell me, I can change!" he cried out and I did the only thing that came to mind.

In an instant I had managed to wrap my hand around the base of his neck and I pulled him forcefully, but gently into me.

Our lips met and I couldn't believe how soft his were. For a brief second I felt the tiniest hint of stubble along his top lip, and then all that was left was air.

I opened my eyes to see his wider than I had ever seen them.

"That, Edward, is why I have been quiet and moody," I said painfully as I left him standing there."

This story is really well written, you feel Edward's pain and confusion.  He's very childlike, yet very intelligent and passionate about life.  He has so much pain in his past, you just want to hug him and tell him it's gonna be ok.  This story updates very regularly, at least once a week.  And trust me you will be so excited to read what happens next.  There are some definite surprises in store.    This Old House is Beta'd by Texasbella, who TrueEnglishRose says "Gotta say HUGE thanks to texasbella because she basically kicks ass with all my stories :) Best beta a girl could ask for"    Check this story out, you definitely won't be disappointed.
