Blood In the Snow by Shewoolf
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7580325/1/Blood_In_The_Snow
Author Edward Cullen finds a man buried in the snow, nearly beaten to death. Love grows as he cares for the man, but will his attackers find him? Slash, Rated M.  Multi-chapter WIP, Edward/Jasper

This story starts out with a bang, popular author Edward Cullen decides to spend the winter at the family's secluded lodge.  He's an author, and recently has had a bad case of writer's block and he thinks that being 100 miles away from any interruptions is just what he needs.  The only one there with him is Alec, his doberman.  While going for a run one morning they make a discovery....

"I caught up with Alec just in time to see him frantically digging in the snow. "What is it, boy?" I joined him in digging. What the hell is that? As I pulled the snow back, I could see what looked like an arm. Shit. Did I just find a body? Alec kept digging, whining frantically. Then I saw the arm move slightly. No, not a body, someone buried in the snow. Alec uncovered a head and I could see that it was a man. His eyes were closed and his skin was bluish. He'd been here a while. At least overnight, since it snowed last night and he was completely covered. I finished digging him out. He was naked and lying in a pool of frozen blood. He had obviously been injured, but I couldn't tell if he'd been in an accident or if someone had purposely done this to him. He was breathing, but it was very shallow. I had to get him back to the lodge and warmed up as soon as I could, or he wasn't going to make it."

This is how he meets Jasper Whitlock, he feels extremely protective of Jasper and that surprises him.  He knows nothing about him, not even his name, and mostly he knows nothing about why he is in the shape he's in.  Was Jasper in an accident? Did someone do this to him?  He has so many quesitons, but mostly he wants to take Jasper home and take care of his injuries, he's covered head to toe with cuts, bruises, cigarette burns, and his arm is broken.  Edward cleans him up as best he can, puts a splint on his arm, and waits for him to wake up.

While waiting for Jasper to wake, Edward calls his father Carlisle.  He asks his dad if there has been anything in the news about a missing person, he gives him Jasper's description and to his surprise he seems to match the description of a man that was apparently killed in a house fire.  Being curious Edward decides to do a little research and soon finds out that Jasper may be connected with the Volturi Family.  When he Google's them, he's shocked by what he finds, they've been involved in everything from drugs to human trafficking.   Why would Jasper be involved with these horrible people?  He can't wait for Jasper to wake up to find out.

Upon waking, the realization that he's on his own hits Jasper really hard, he's in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of winter.  With a man he knows nothing about.  Can he trust Edward to keep him safe?   What happened to his family, are they safe?   They both seem somewhat drawn to each other, even though they've just met.   Jasper has recently lived his  life  trying to keep the Volturi away from his family, and keep them  safe.  The last relationship he was in didn't turn out good at all, when he went to surprise his boyfriend Peter, he was the one that got a surprise.  Peter was not who Jasper thought he was at all.  Edward has about the same luck in love.  He was in a 3 year relationship that they both realized was going nowhere.   Recently Jasper has taken solace in books, his only escape from the stress that he deals with daily, thanks to the Volturi.   They will have lots of time to get to know each other, as the worst blizzard of the season is on it's way.

The depth of their feelings take both of them by surprise, Edward is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure Jasper is safe....

"Holding Jasper in my arms just feels so right. His warm back snuggles close to my chest and I listen to his soft sighs as he slowly starts to relax. Leaning close to his ear, I whisper, "Sleep well, Jazz. I won't leave you." I mumble almost to myself, so quietly I don't think he can hear me, "… not ever."
"Never… please don't let me go, ever", he murmurs.
I let my lips brush the edge of his ear, whispering that I'll never let him go… he'll never be alone again… I won't let anyone hurt him again. I can feel him relaxing as he drifts off to sleep. I hold him close as my mind races. I have to figure out a way to be sure those men can never again get to him. I know I need to call my dad tomorrow. He knows people in influential places that might be able to help. Jasper can't spend the rest of his life in hiding… in fear."

I like how this story is writen, it's definately a slow burn. It's written like a crime drama, we learn that Jasper and his family have been forced into business with  the Volturi Family. Not something they liked, or wanted to be involved with. Jasper makes a brave attempt to try to save his parents and hopefully get them all to safety, but things don't go as planned and he finds himself in a very dangerous situation.    This is the first slash story that Shewoolf has written, it's very different, and very well written.  I hope we get alot more stories from her in the future.   She would like to thank Slashkitten Mina for the beautiful banner, and her pre-reader Gabby.

Under the Waves by Miss Dare
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7519967/1/Under_the_Waves
Jasper is a haunted soul who hates his vampire instincts and gets off by inducing emotions in the humans that he hunts. Dark and slashy. Rated M
Multi-Chapter WIP
@mssdare on Twitter

Jasper is a vampire, he hates what he is and tries to ease his guilt by feeding off of humans that he thinks want to die, or ones  he thinks deserve to die.  He uses his empathic powers to sense  the people who have lost all hope and truly think they'd be better off dead.   He also uses that power to put his victims into such a lust filled fog that they don't realize they're being killed.  Then he feels guilty.  That guilt makes him sit for days on end barely moving, or sit on the bottom of the ocean just to try to numb himself to deal with what he is and what he does.  His life is a never ending cycle of hunting, feeding, feeling guilty, then waiting to feed again.  One night while at a gay club looking for his next meal, he finds Edward.  The emotions he feels coming from Edward seem perfect for what he has in mind.....

"Jasper quickly approaches the copper-haired boy in torn jeans and black T-shirt who stands by the wall with his hands in his pockets, looking down at the floor. Everything about this boy screams to Jasper.

"You look like you want to die," Jasper says."
What?" the boy asks, stunned, raising his shockingly green eyes to Jasper.
"Nothing," Jasper answers. "Do you want to get off?"

"What?" the boys asks again. He's clearly either dumb or totally wasted. Judging from the smell of him, Jasper bets on the latter.

"I'll make you feel better for a moment," Jasper promises, reaching for the boy's hand to lead him outside and behind the club. He pushes him against the wall and quickly sends a wave of arousal towards him. He wants to be done with it as soon as he can."

But he can't, something about Edward wont let Jasper hurt him.  He finds him days later in an alley beat up and bleeding.  Without thinking Jasper takes him back to his room at an abandoned factory.  He's curious about Edward, but neither of them are very anxious to talk.  Edward is curious about Jasper, he wants to know more about what he is, and why he does what he does.   Jasper is hesitant to tell him too much.  At first he seems to want to keep his secrets, but soon he realizes that he wants Edward to know him.

This is a very dark Jasper, he's existing  and that's about it.   Edward gives him some hope that maybe he can have another life, despite himself, he likes having Edward around and feels the need to take care of him.  But Edward has his own ghosts.  He's had a tragic event in his past, someone died while he was on duty at the hospital and he blames himself.    Since then he's dropped out of life.  When Jasper tells him that he can't leave, and he'll be staying with him until he decides to kill him, Edward sees it as Jasper taking care of him.

Miss Dare has done a great job with the characters in this story, Jasper is a heartless, self loathing cold-blooded murderer who exploits people's emotions while he's murdering them...or is he?  Edward doesn't care if he lives or dies, he's in fact lost his will to live and any hope he may have had.  For some reason, together they work.  Jasper wants to take care of Edward, and Edward in turn wants to make Jasper feel something, and actually tries to comfort him when Jasper feels guilty for murdering a girl in front of Edward.  They're both drawn to each other, whether by choice or not.

In the last chapter, Edward falls ill.  Jasper worries, what will he do now if Edward dies?  He soon realizes he doesn't want to find out.  He likes having Edward around and is willing to do whatever it takes to keep him alive.   He realizes that Edward is too ill to get better on his own, but he tells Jasper it's just a cold, even though he's racked with a fever and chills.  Jasper worried, he knows Edward is really sick,  he realizes he'll give Edward anything he asks, unfortunatly what he asks for is not something Jasper wants to give him....

"Can you take this away?" Edward asks softly. And Jasper knows he's not able to deny this boy anything, even if it means that it all ends here.

So he answers simply, "Yes."

"Will it hurt?"

"I'll make it good for you," Jasper promises.

He silently says goodbye to the boy and buries down in him whatever hopes he's ever had. This shouldn't be a surprise – he knew it was coming from the very first moment he saw Edward in the club.

"Close your eyes," Jasper says, placing his hand on Edward's forehead, brushing his hair away. "Just... feel."

and his teeth cut the skin."
Jasper gives Edward all he has in him. Not the usual stuff - not lust or desire, but first the calmness - as much as he can until he feels Edward relaxing. His limbs lose their tightness and Edward sighs and sinks down on the bed as if he's melting.

Then Jasper gradually adds warm emotions - all the ones that people feel while looking with fondness at little smiling babies. But this is still not enough. So Jasper moves to elation, pushes into Edward all he knows about the post-orgasmic state of people who are in love. He hasn't felt it himself - at least not in this life - but he's experienced it in others' emotions.

He envisions gentle light and pure sounds and clear water, molds it together, allows it to grow in him as he adds more and more of longing, caring. And yes – now he mixes it with desire and orgasmic high as well. It feels to him like a giant ball of hot light. Jasper releases the feeling and it hits Edward with force.

This is what pure ecstasy should be like, Jasper thinks, like in old religions. He's heard of it, he's read about it, but he didn't think he'd ever experience it. However - here he is - with Edward lying next to him, breathless, and it looks like the boy is shining too, like his skin is made of light while Jasper places his hands on Edward's chest, leaning down.

He hesitates once more, his lips touching Edward's neck. Edward is too far gone to notice anything. And then Jasper takes a long, deep breath and his teeth cut the skin."

I hope he's able to stop, and I hope they're able to find some happiness with each other if he's turned and they still have the connection they did.  These clifffies kill me, and make me want more.  Miss Dare has been nice enough to give us a tease of the next chapter.  So here it is SPOILER ALERT!

"Edward's fingers curl over Jasper's like it's a farewell, and this suddenly brings Jasper back to now.  Jasper opens his eyes wide, taking in the sight-of Edward limp and lifeless under him, but still breathing, his heart still beating, barely,  but unmistakably.   Jasper hears his own breath, his own whimpers and slurps of his tongue, gulps in his throat - loud and interrupting, offending, sacrilegious.  The feeling of the finality of what he's doing dawns on him again and Jasper's insides twist.  He is not ready.  He is not ready to give up on this boy."

I can't wait to read more.  Miss Dare's beta is Fr333bird and Rhythm Junkie is her pre-reader and "hand-holder"  Well all I can say is these three are doing a great job.  You won't be disappointed.
